Jersey household, where streets sang bachata and salsa, and everyone on our block was “related” to an aunt or uncle from the Caribbean. I later moved to a new neighborhood, and that’s where everything changed. My neighborhood no longer resembled home, and my neighbors no longer looked like me. I was different. Growing up, I used fashion as a tool to stand out without the size of my body and complexion being the first impression. I learned to embrace my love for myself, my culture and advocate for a change in an industry I could only dream of being a part of
